In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, we see a lot of the past, which involves: discrimination against black people, injustice with women, and how the teachers would treat the students. Through Scout’s eyes we see a lot of discrimination with black people when Atticus decides to defend a black person, Tom Robinson for rapping a white women, which will be very difficult due to the circumstances that in those times black people were discriminated. In those times, black people were discriminated and treated unfairly, so if you defended a black person you were to be treated the same way as them. When Atticus decides to defend Tom Robinson, Scout gets treated the same way as black people, and also receives negative comments at school, such as nigger lover. Scout asks Atticus about the term nigger lover and Atticus says: "Scout," said Atticus, "nigger-lover is just one of those terms that don't mean anything—like snot-nose. It's hard to explain—ignorant, trashy people use it when they think somebody's favoring Negroes over and above themselves. It's slipped into usage with some people like ourselves, when they want a common, ugly term to label somebody."
Next, we have one of the issues that are still going on in the world right now, gender. Gender in this book is happens with Scout being a girl, and being treated differently just because she is a girl. Scout encounters her being judged by Jem because of her gender. Scout starts thinking about her gender and says: "I was not so sure, but Jem told me I was being a girl, that girls always imagined things, that's why other people hated them so, and if I started behaving like one I could just go off and find some to play with." Through this quote how Jem criticizes women, and he says that everyone hates them because they are always imagining things.
Finally, in those times at school it was perfectly normal for a teacher to hit one of the students with a ruler because of bad behavior. Nowadays you would just be sent to the principal’s office or get detention, but that’s not what happens to Scout in the book. Scout tries to tell Ms. Caroline the reason why Walter Cunningham isn’t accepting her quarter, and finally Ms. Caroline decides she’s had enough of Scout, and gets punished. Scout tells the reader her experience by saying: “Miss Caroline picked up her ruler, gave me dozen quick little pats, then told me to stand in the corner.”

Part 2
The KKK Strikes Again
(Invented Article)
What’s wrong with America? Could it be their society? Well, in fact yes it is the society. Yet America has numerous people who are still racially segregated by the government and individual groups, no one is taking action at the moment. Right now in the south Mooresville, North Carolina a widely popular group called the KKK also known as the Klu Klux Klan is being summoned among society.
Since the founding of the second KKK, its known and famous for their cross burnings in threat to the Catholic Church. They also kept the same white robes, masks, and large pointy hats to hide their identity and give a horrifying impression. Yet they are still against the civil rights movement, the Klan seemed to be open to come up with a plan to threat to those participating in this movement. All over the town of Mooresville including the whole south, police had found colored victims tortured and beaten to death. Society, especially the colored people are protesting about this matter while it puts the US government and military on worry on the verge of war.
Just recently, less than a month ago a colored victim Victor Johnson was a man who worked at a barbershop, found dead in the practices of the KKK. He was a very good friend of the people in Mooresville and best man to get your hair cut. The Johnson’s have a history being Catholic by blood and supporting the town as a union, as well as Victor himself. Victor was found lying on the ground beaten to death. After this has occurred the people of Mooresville argued that this was unjust of the KKK, and the public will soon see a protest to support in memory of Victor and to stop violence against innocent people.
America is still summoned by issues on society, yet the government ignores the political and racial issues in the south and are still focusing on different things. The KKK is among millions of people still growing out their group and power expanding out more to the north, the Klan has nothing to stop them nor control them. As the civil rights go on, people are preparing for the next "racial war".
